Half-Pint Harmonies began during the Winter of 2016 in High Point, North Carolina.  Our mission is to bring parents and children the most rewarding early childhood musical experience possible.  We know that materials created by The Music Class, Inc. meet these needs and we think you will feel the same too!  In a 45-minute class, families will experience a wide variety of musical styles, tonalities, and meters.  All in a high energy and super fun environment!

Our teachers are highly trained musicians with backgrounds in music, theater, and education.  Half-Pint Harmonies teachers are fun-loving, energetic and knowledgeable about early childhood development and how it pertains to music class.  We meet the students where they are and teach the parents how to model and further the activities at home.  Researchers have documented that exposure to music in early childhood has a positive effect on the brain and that the earlier you start, the better.

Scarlette Kerr lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her husband and two rabbits. She moved to the Triad area from her home state of Virginia in 2018 to pursue a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy with an Emphasis in Injury-Preventive Keyboard Technique at Salem College. While in Virginia, Scarlette was active as an accompanist, teacher, choral singer, and music director. In Winston-Salem, she is a member of the Piedmont Chamber Singers and also performs with fellow pianists for the community.

As a piano teacher, Scarlette draws from the work of Edwin E. Gordon and Music Learning Theory and prioritizes “audiation” as an essential skill in learning how to make music, whether through singing, or through an instrument.

Scarlette is devoted to the development of childhood skills in music from infancy through formal music lessons, and is super excited to a part of the Half-Pint Harmonies team!
