Megan Martinez

Megan is a multifaceted New Orleans-based performer, creator, caregiver, and community organizer. At a young age, her parents first introduced her to music through their church congregation and musical neighborhood. Every Sunday meant gospel music in the mornings and bluegrass jams at night. At 17, she began working with children as a helper at an in-home daycare. Her love of singing, acting, and storytelling made working with kids fun and rewarding, and she went on to study Early Childhood Education. Over the years, Megan has worked with children in many capacities, including in a two-year-old classroom, as a summer camp counselor, and as a personal nanny. Her primary creative passion is singing. Whether it's funk, soul, or jazz, she digs into the music and sings from the heart. Recently, she has returned to her love of theater. Last winter, she wrote, produced, and puppeteered a full-length musical comedy to raise toys for underprivileged children. She is very excited to begin teaching, playing, and learning with the kids and families of The Music Class.
