Teach The Music Class!
Award-winning music and movement programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
"When I first started I thought I would be making a little extra money teaching a few music classes...little did I know that with the help and support of The Music Class I would find a rewarding career and grow a business that could support my family."
- Lizzie Oretsky, Fundamentally Music
Are you a music teacher looking for an award-winning early childhood curriculum to expand your offerings? Are you a parent who would like to start your own fun, rewarding, and completely flexible business? Are you an entrepreneur who would love to bring high-quality music education to the families in your community? The Music Class is for you!
The Music Class (TMC) was founded by Rob Sayer in Atlanta, GA in 1998. What began as one studio has grown into an international program offered in over a thousand locations worldwide. We have mostly grown by word-of-mouth through happy families and teachers who love this program as much as we do. TMC still operates as a small but mighty office team and family-run business in Atlanta, and we work very closely with all of our center directors worldwide.
When you open your own TMC location and become a center director, you have the flexibility to offer classes on your schedule, according to your needs and the needs of your community. Do you want to teach on weekdays? Weekends only? Opening a TMC center is 100% scalable: you can make teaching The Music Class your part-time job or your full-time job. You can teach all classes yourself, or hire more teachers to work for your center. The Music Class is a truly flexible, fun, and rewarding job that can grow as large or stay as small as you want it to be.
Teach Music That You Enjoy
We repeatedly hear that one of the factors that differentiates TMC from other programs is our music. The Music Class recordings are award-winning, diverse, and genuinely enjoyed by parents and teachers in addition to children! Each collection features a large "musical vocabulary" because exposure to a large vocabulary of scales, rhythms, and styles of music at a young age sets the foundation for young students to understand and enjoy those sounds for the rest of their lives. TMC recordings feature talented instrumentalists and vocals by our own TMC teachers and students.
There are 12 collections of TMC music and accompanying curricula, which provide 3 years of classes with new songs and activities each session. Each song collection is available digitally on one of our apps, as well as on CDs and songbooks. Each collection includes:
- Between 25 and 30 songs
- Songs in a variety of tonalities, meters, and genres, including jazz, rock, bluegrass, folk, opera, and assorted styles from around the world
- Tonal and Rhythm patterns
- At least one classical piece and one instrumental play-along performed by a traditional-style jazz band
- A variety of featured instruments including trumpet, saxophone, flute, guitar, clarinet, banjo, trombone, and others
- An accompanying songbook that can be used as a coloring book

Resources for Teachers and Center Directors
The Music Class offers extensive resources and support for teachers and center directors. Our office team in Atlanta works closely with every center! Teacher training includes a start up training and ongoing trainings for each session that you teach TMC. Every song in every collection has learning objectives, teaching instructions, and video examples of how to lead the song in class. We make it as easy as possible for busy teachers!
All centers in the US and Canada have access to TMC's website to process registrations and manage classes. Our custom site provides exclusive features and ease of use that generic, outsourced sites simply cannot provide.
Digital music for every enrolled family is provided on one of our two apps. If centers use The Music Class website registration system, music is automatically added to each family's account on The Music Class app. If centers use their own website registration system, digital music is provided through codes that can be redeemed and listened to on our second app called TMC Tunes.
