The Music Playhouse of Chicago
HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
These policies exist and are enforced to ensure that all of our students and teachers enjoy the best possible classroom experience.
If you have any questions about our policies, please contact our customer service representative at info@themusicplayhouseofchicago.com.
SOCKS
All adults and children entering the carpeted classroom bust be wearing socks. In accordance with Illinois health and safety codes, we are a sock mandatory facility. We encourage families to keep a pair of socks for themselves and their little ones in their diaper bag, purse, car, or stroller. If you forget, we have socks available for $2/pair.
DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR
Please help us maintain a SAFE learning environment by intervening if your child is doing something that could endanger themselves or another child in the class (i.e. running, pushing, poking, hitting, throwing instruments, etc.). If necessary, please leave the classroom until your child is ready to rejoin the classroom activities. Our classes can be very stimulating and sometimes overwhelming for a young and inexperienced child. Sometimes leaving the environment for a moment is necessary to calm an overstimulated child. This is often part of their early development, so please don’t feel awkward if you need to step out for a moment or two.
NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE CLASSROOM
Do not bring drinks or snacks into the carpeted classroom. This will prevent slippery spills, burns from hot coffee or tea, choking incidents, and allergic reactions. Water in a spill-proof container and baby bottles are permitted.
CELLPHONES
To minimize classroom distractions, we ask that you please silence your cell phones during class and keep them out of the classroom. We all know children are attracted to screens, and will be distracted by them if they are seen. For the safety or your phone, we recommend that you keep it with your belongings outside the classroom. The Music Playhouse is not responsible for lost or damaged property.
CLEANING INSTRUMENTS
Because young children often explore the world with their mouths, we make a special effort to keep our instruments as germ-free as possible. We ask that parents be especially conscientious of helping us keep our classroom, instruments, and props, clean. Hand sanitizer is provided in each of our classrooms. Please take a moment to sanitize your and your child’s hands (or using warm soapy water to wash hands) before and after class to minimize the spread of germs. Also, please place any tasted, sneezed on, coughed on, or otherwise germ-exposed instruments or props in our “Juicy Bucket.” Items in this bin are carefully sanitized after each class.
ILLNESS
Please DO NOT bring yourself or your child to class until they are fever or symptom free (without the aid of fever-reducing medications) for over 24 hours. Please utilize our makeup policy after sickness has passed. This course of action is recommended by the Centers of Disease Control for appropriate prevention of illnesses.
TRASH
Please immediately discard any trash into a trashcan. DO NOT leave used tissues or snack wrappers, etc. on any surface. There are five trashcans located throughout the studio. If you cannot locate one yourself, please ask your teacher.
BABYPROOFING
The carpeted classroom, front cubby area, kitchen, and bathroom are all fully baby-proofed. That being said, please notify us immediately if you notice a baby-proofing apparatus is missing or broken. In addition, though we take every precaution to ensure safety in our facility, DO NOT leave any children unattended.
