Scarlette Kerr lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her husband and two rabbits. She moved to the Triad area from her home state of Virginia in 2018 to pursue a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy with an Emphasis in Injury-Preventive Keyboard Technique at Salem College. After graduating in May 2020, Scarlette and her family decided to settle in Winston-Salem and started her piano studio, Music at 906, from her home.
Scarlette received her Bachelor of Music from James Madison University in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Accompanying. While in Virginia, Scarlette was active as an accompanist, teacher, choral singer, and music director. In Winston-Salem, she is a member of the Piedmont Chamber Singers and also performs with fellow pianists for the community.
As a piano teacher, Scarlette draws from the work of Edwin E. Gordon and Music Learning Theory and prioritizes “audiation” as an essential skill in learning how to make music, whether through singing, or through an instrument.
Scarlette is devoted to the development of childhood skills in music from infancy through formal music lessons, and is super excited to a part of the Half-Pint Harmonies team!
