About Sound Start Classes

Sound Start Early Childhood Music offers weekly music classes for children ages newborn to six years to enjoy with a parent or caregiver. Families love our well-trained and ridiculously fun instructors, award-winning curriculum (created by The Music Class, Inc.) and high quality instruments and props. Our research-based teaching methods will help boost your child's sense of pitch and rhythm and foster a life-long appreciation for music during your child's most significant period of brain development- early childhood. We offer four sessions each year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.) We are currently offering indoor and outdoor class options. INDOOR, OUTDOOR, & ONLINE CLASS INFORMATION

Indoor Classes

We offer indoor classes at a variety of class locations across Music City. In indoor classes, all class supplies are provided. Students attend these weekly, 45-minute classes with a parent or caregiver.

Outdoor Classes

We offer outdoor classes at a variety of class locations across Music City. In outdoor classes, families bring a blanket to sit on and a variety of small instruments to play. We recommend instruments to shake, sticks (or wooden spoons or reusable straws) to click, and something to drum on. There's no need to purchase instruments. Homemade instruments are welcome! An overturned mixing bowl makes a great drum when paired with a wooden spoon or scraper. A bottle of cupcake sprinkles is an excellent shaker! Have fun and be creative when planning what to bring to class. Students attend these weekly, 45-minute classes with a parent or caregiver.

Outdoor classes do not meet if temperatures are below 32° F or above 90° F, it is raining, there is a tornado watch, or if roads are hazardous. We will reschedule one "rain" date for each outdoor class. Once we've utilized that "rain" date, any additional outdoor classes will meet online during inclement weather. Inclement weather cancellations are communicated via email (and online class links will also be shared via email). In inclement weather, please check email before heading to your outdoor class. Nashville weather is pretty mild. We have held outdoor classes year round with minimal weather cancellations.

Online Classes

Using a secure classroom on the Zoom platform, online classes provide a safe, easy way to boost your child's development and make new friends! In online classes, families provide a variety of small instruments to play. Students attend these weekly, 30-minute classes with a parent or caregiver. Our online classes are highly interactive and engaging. Families pay for one enrollment and additional siblings tag along at no charge. Grandparents are always welcome to join our online classes.

Due to insufficient interest, we are not currently offering an online class. If you would like to help us form an online class, we would be happy to create one with you! Contact office@soundstartnashville.com for more details.
