Spotlight on The Music Class Alumni: Blank Family

In celebration of The Music Class's 25th anniversary in 2023, we have asked past and present students and teachers to share their TMC stories. We will be spotlighting some of these stories on the blog! All information and pictures below were shared by the Blank family.

Names: Children are Aaron and Jonah Blank. Mom and TMC Atlanta teacher is Heather Blank.

Current Ages: Aaron is 18, Jonah is 16

Ages attended Music Class: Aaron started at 7 months and Jonah started when he was one.

Musical or creative activities currently involved in:

Aaron plays euphonium, did marching band for 4 years in high school and was drum major his senior year. He's now having a great time playing in the UGA Redcoat Marching Band.

Jonah plays baritone sax in his high school marching band. He enjoys writing and producing his own albums, which can be found on Spotify!

TMC Story: 

Like so many other Music Class families, we became friends with many of our classmates and teachers. I’m still friends with Miss Nikki who I see regularly, and I love running into families I met in class when I’m out and about.

There were many special moments in class. I can still remember Aaron taking his first steps in Music Class with Miss Steffi! She was as excited as we were!

For the boys, The Music Class was the beginning of a non-stop musical adventure. Their experience in class made them love music, and music still plays a huge and positive role in their lives. For me, I went from Music Class mom to Music Class teacher. I remember our very first class, which I went to with my husband Adam.  He looked at me and said “you could do this!” It took me a few years, but I eventually started teaching and I haven’t stopped since. It’s such a fun and rewarding job!
