The Music Class offers research-based education programs designed to unleash the musical potential of young children.
TMC is an international program that is based right here in Atlanta! Many of our ATL teachers can be heard on the award-winning recordings you receive in class. With over 1,600 students attending our classes weekly, we are not only the largest music center for young children in metro-Atlanta, but we are also the largest center of our kind in the country.

96% of our alumni said The Music Class had a positive effect on their child’s appreciation and enjoyment of music. Results from an alumni survey of families who attended The Music Class in Atlanta 10 or more years ago!

Janelle stumbled upon The Music Class at a supermarket after moving to Atlanta in 2011. A very welcoming and friendly Dunwoody mom stopped Janelle to admire her daughter, Lita, and recognized the need for something fulfilling to do in Janelle's doe-caught-in-the-headlights/don't-know-anybody-yet desperate stare. Immediately, she and her (then 6 month old) daughter fell in love with the music, the teacher, and the curriculum, and Lita started showing signs of rhythm participation and continues to grow in the class even now! Janelle moved to Atlanta from Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY. There she taught Voice and Movement for the Expressive Actor Method and received rave reviews for her acting work with both Anonymous Ensemble and Emerging Artists Theatre companies. For AnEn, she headlined a concert in Athens, Greece of songs from her acclaimed role of Alice in AnEn's Wonderland and the company's Greece production of The Return- while she was 27 weeks pregnant! Prior to her life in New York, she earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Music Theatre Performance at UNLV where she helped develop and teach the Expressive Actor Method with mentor Michael Lugering.

"Perhaps the reason I love music and teaching so much is because they both encompass creativity, working with others, and an endless path towards improvement.”
Rob received his Bachelor of Music Performance and Master of Music Education Degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and also studied at the Juilliard School. He started his career as a trumpet player in the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa and has since had the opportunity to play with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet. He currently enjoys playing in the Sentimental Journey Orchestra.
Realizing that early childhood was the most important time in music development, Rob decided to leave his position as a school band director (after spending 12 years in that role) in order to work with young children. After looking at existing early childhood music programs and not being able to find one that provided outstanding educational content, music that parents can enjoy, and a fun and interactive classroom environment, he decided to create his own program. The result was that in 1998, Rob created the TMC Music Pups®curriculum - writing, arranging and recording our songs and developing our teaching methods. Rob is proud to have created The Music Class with the assistance of his wife Michele and children Raina and Brian. Staring from when she was only 8 years-old, Raina composed many of our most popular songs, and Brian has enjoyed singing on our recordings since the age of 2. Rob is also thankful to the wonderful teachers whose expertise and passion have contributed to the success of The Music Class.
