Open enrollment for our FALL SESSION is going on now!  Hurry and register while there are still available spots!  The 10-week fall session, featuring The Lion Collection, begins Saturday, September 10th and ends Friday, November 18th. (Note: there are no breaks in this session).  Fall classes will be held at our Carmel location and our new location at the JCC (6701 Hoover Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260).  All classes at the Riviera Club will move to the JCC. Register at the bottom of this page. We are so excited to bring back THE SINGING VILLAGE, this Fall!  It is a 10-week class that coincide with the Pups session. 

Inquire about our new POWER PUPS class which supports children with learning challenges, including physical/motor, sensory, emotional, cognitive, body awareness, and self-regulation.  For more information on the program, click here.  

PIANO CLASSES will be offered this fall! Our Keyboard Classes (Sound Habits) is for beginner keyboard lessons ages 5-7. Aural skills are taught along with technical skills, and students learn to play by ear before music notation is introduced. Children and their parents learn together and have fun! No prior keyboard experience required for parent or child. At our Carmel location, on Wednesdays, 5:30-6:20 pm and 6:30-7:20 pm, Sept. 21 through Nov. 23, join Mr. Zane to experience the joy of instrumental music and learn in a fun group setting. Parents are required to attend class.

Christina Dooley

Christina is thrilled to be in her 5th year of teaching with The Music Playhouse! She has first hand experience of its benefits as she brought her 3 boys to the classes years ago.  Music has been a big part of her life from a very early age, beginning with piano lessons and then singing and dancing every chance she could get. She performed around Indianapolis much of her childhood and continued to perform at Indiana University where she was a Singing Hoosier and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocal Performance and Theatre.  Christina and her husband, Tim, live on the northwest side of Indianapolis, just 5 miles from the house where she grew up.

Emily Good-Perkins

Emily received her Doctor of Education and Master of Education degrees in Music Education from Columbia University. She also received Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Voice Performance from the University of Arizona and Temple University.  Emily has presented, performed and taught all over the world. She has taught music to all ages, including music classes for newborn babies, and undergraduate and graduate music courses at Marian University, Boston University, and American University of Sharjah.  Emily has published her research in many publications, including the International Journal of Music Education, Philosophy of Music Education Review, and many others.  In addition, her book, Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies in Music Education: Expanding Culturally Responsive Teaching to Sustain Diverse Musical Cultures and Identities, was published by Routledge Press in September 2021. Most importantly, Emily enjoys singing with her three children, Lili, Noah, and Jacob and in her husband, John’s choirs. She is so excited to make music with you!

Kim Deakyne

Passionate about music and teaching, Kim is thrilled to join the team at The Music Playhouse. After obtaining her degree in elementary education, Kim moved to France with her husband and worked as a teacher in various contexts. Three children and 20 years later, she has returned to her home state of Indiana. Kim studied music at the American School of Modern Music in Paris where she discovered the wonderful world of jazz. A life without music would make Kim...Kind of Blue.

Laura Ohms

Laura Ohms is a licensed clinical social worker and a lifelong music lover. Throughout her career practicing social work across many settings and with various population groups, she has consistently sought to provide musical experiences to her clients. Laura truly believes in the power of music as a tool to support the mental and emotional well-being of all people. Prior to moving to Carmel with her family, she founded a music business in Chicago where she taught both early childhood music and children with special needs in the Chicago Public School system. One of her most enriching passion projects is directing youth choirs. Laura studied voice and piano in college, traveling with her college choir which is one of her favorite life experiences of all time! In her spare time Laura can be found swimming, biking and running her way through triathlons and supporting others to do the same!

Zaneon (Zane) Meinhart

Zaneon (Zane) Meinhart

Zane is currently finishing up his senior year as a Music Education major at Marian University-Indianapolis. As a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and arranger, Zane has performed with a wide variety of ensembles in the Indianapolis area from orchestras to worship teams to handbell choirs. He is involved with the JCC Indianapolis community as a Camp JCC music specialist and year-round swim instructor, while also directing a small instrumental ensemble through the Shireinu program at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Zane has interned with SYO Summer Music Programs, a local, inclusive, youth orchestra for 3 years. In his free time, Zane enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Sadie and Sunny, his cat, Bilbo Baggins, and playing board games with friends and family.
